Files are the foundation of every takeoff. Exayard supports PDFs, JPEG, PNG, TIFF, and HEIC images. Multi-page PDFs are automatically split into individual pages for easier navigation and measurement. The maximum file size is 500 MB per file.
How to upload
Click the + button in the file explorer and select File upload to browse for files on your computer. You can upload multiple files at once, and they appear in your current folder location.
To upload an entire folder while preserving its structure, click the + button and select Folder upload. Exayard creates the folder hierarchy automatically and places all files in the correct locations. System files like .DS_Store and Thumbs.db are filtered out automatically.
Upload progress
A floating progress indicator appears at the top of the screen while files upload. PDFs show a "processing" status while pages are extracted; images complete immediately since their processing happens in the background. You can continue working while uploads finish.
Large PDFs with many pages may take several minutes to process. You can expand or collapse the progress indicator and navigate to other parts of the project while waiting.
Aerial survey capture
For site plans and outdoor projects, click the + button and select Aerial survey. Search for an address or navigate the map, then adjust the zoom level and map type (satellite, roadmap, or hybrid). Click Capture to add the imagery as a new page.
The scale is automatically calibrated based on the map's zoom level and geographic coordinates. This automatic calibration accounts for the map projection and provides accurate measurements without manual setup.
File formats and conversion
HEIC and TIFF images are converted to JPEG for web viewing while the original file is preserved. When you download these files, you can choose between the original format or the converted JPEG.
Vector PDFs typically provide sharper results than scanned documents. If you are working with scanned plans, 200-300 DPI provides the best balance of quality and file size. Lower resolutions may appear blurry and affect measurement accuracy.
Tips for organizing uploads
Navigate to your destination folder before uploading so files land in the right place. Use Folder upload when your plans are already organized on your computer. Combine related sheets into a single multi-page PDF when possible, as this keeps plans organized and easier to navigate.
Use descriptive filenames before uploading since these become the default page names in Exayard. You can rename pages after upload, but starting with good names saves time.
