Uploading files is how you get construction plans into Exayard for measurement. The platform accepts PDFs and common image formats, processes them in the background, and makes them available for takeoffs. This article covers the basics of getting files into your project.

Supported formats

Exayard accepts PDF documents and image files including JPEG, PNG, and TIFF. Multi-page PDFs are split automatically into individual pages, each appearing as a separate sheet in your project. High-resolution scans at 200-300 DPI work best for accurate measurements and AI-assisted scale detection.

Upload methods

Click the + button in the file explorer header to see upload options. File upload opens a file picker where you can select one or more files. Folder upload preserves directory structure, recreating your folder hierarchy inside the project.

Drag and drop also works. Drag files from your computer onto the file explorer and release them. A progress indicator appears while files process.

Aerial survey captures satellite imagery directly. Search for an address or navigate manually, adjust the zoom level, and capture the view. Choose between satellite, roadmap, or hybrid display before capturing. The image includes GPS-calibrated scale for immediate measurement without manual calibration.

File processing

Uploaded files go through several processing stages. First the file uploads to Exayard's servers, then multi-page PDFs split into individual pages, and finally the AI analyzes each page for scale notations and measurable elements.

A progress indicator in the file explorer shows status. Once complete, pages appear in your file list ready for measurement. Large, high-resolution files may take a few moments to process fully.

Organizing files

Create folders to keep projects manageable. Click the + button then select New folder and enter a name. Drag files onto folders to move them inside. Hold Shift or Cmd to select multiple files and move them together.

Right-click any file or folder to access options including Rename and Delete. Deleted items move to a deleted view rather than being permanently erased, so you can recover files if needed.

Toggle between grid and list views using the view button in the header. Grid view shows thumbnails for visual browsing, while list view provides a compact table with file details. Use the sort dropdown to order files by name, sheet number, date added, date edited, or size.

Tips for best results

Upload scans at 200-300 DPI for optimal AI detection and clear manual measurements. Include scale bars or written scale notations when possible so Exayard can detect scale automatically. Use descriptive file names like "Sheet E-101 Electrical Plan.pdf" rather than "scan001.pdf" to make files easier to find.

If a PDF does not split into pages, check whether it is password-protected or encrypted. Exayard cannot process protected documents. Re-save the PDF without protection from your original software and try uploading again.
