AI takeoffs let you identify and measure elements on a plan page automatically. Instead of drawing each measurement by hand, you describe what to find and AI locates matching elements, creates symbols, and places measurements on the canvas.

Opening AI analysis

From the takeoff sidebar, click the + menu and select AI Analysis. The AI analysis drawer slides up from the bottom of the sidebar. On first open, Exayard automatically scans the current page and detects measurable elements. A spinner with Analyzing page appears while detection runs.

If detection takes longer than expected, a Retry button appears so you can restart the process.

Detected elements

Once detection completes, elements appear grouped by measurement type: Area, Linear, and Count. Each group shows the element names the AI identified on your plan -- things like doors, windows, pipes, or square footage regions.

Select up to three elements per group by checking the boxes next to their names. The header for each group shows your selection count (e.g., "Selected 2 of 3"). If more than three elements were detected in a group, expand the full list with the chevron button at the bottom.

Adding custom elements

If the AI missed something, add it manually. Click the + button next to any group header to insert a new row. Type the element name and it auto-selects. Custom elements behave identically to detected ones during analysis.

Running the analysis

With your elements selected, click Run in the top-right corner of the panel. A credit cost estimate appears beside the button showing how many credits the analysis will consume. A confirmation dialog displays the exact cost and asks you to confirm before proceeding.

The analysis creates a new takeoff layer named with your name, the measurement types, and a version number. AI-generated symbols on this layer are marked with (AI) in the sidebar so you can distinguish them from manual measurements.

Reviewing results

After analysis completes, an approval dialog titled Review detected elements may appear. It lists the elements the AI found, grouped by category, with checkboxes to include or exclude each one. Deselect any elements that look incorrect, then click Continue to finalize. Click Cancel to discard the analysis entirely and return to the default layer.

AI-placed measurements appear on the canvas like any other takeoff. You can select, move, resize, or delete individual shapes. Adjust symbol properties, rename elements, or add cutouts just as you would with manual measurements.

Tips

AI analysis works best on clearly drawn plans with distinct symbols. Set your page scale before running analysis so measurements are accurate. Use descriptive selections -- choosing "Interior doors" rather than a generic "Doors" helps the AI produce more precise results.
