Getting started checklist

Track your setup progress through six activation milestones in the Getting started checklist.

Written by Sarah Chen

The Getting started checklist tracks the key steps for setting up Exayard. It lives behind the setup pill in the app header, labeled with your progress, such as 2/6 setup. Click it to open the checklist in a popover.

The header pill stays visible until you finish every step. Inside, the panel header reads Getting started and shows your progress as "X of Y steps complete" beside a progress ring.

The six milestones

The checklist covers six steps:

Step

Completes when you

Create a project

Create your first project

Upload a plan

Upload a PDF or image to a project

Run AI takeoff

Finish an AI takeoff on a plan

Create an estimate

Build your first estimate

Install website widget

Set up the website chat widget

Invite a teammate

Send your first team invitation

Each step completes automatically when you take the matching action. A filled checkmark marks completed steps, and the progress count updates as you go.

Finishing a step

Click any open step to expand it. You'll see a short description and, for most steps, a button that takes you straight to that task — for example, Create project, Set up widget, or Invite team. Steps with no shortcut button still expand to a description.

Every step also has a Learn more link that opens the relevant help article so you can read the full walkthrough before starting.

Marking steps manually

If you've already done a step outside the checklist, you can mark it yourself. Open the step's ... menu and choose Mark complete. To undo, open the same menu and choose Mark incomplete.

Progress is tracked per organization, so everyone on your team sees the same checklist state.

Dismissing the checklist

Once all steps are complete, a Don't show again action appears in the panel. Click it to hide the checklist and remove the setup pill from the header permanently.

While setup is still in progress, the panel shows Ask a question instead, which opens a chat with the support team.
